Amalaki Ekadashi falls on the 11th day of the bright fortnight of Phalguna month and centers on the worship of the Amalaki (Amla / Indian gooseberry) tree, which is believed to be an abode of Lord Vishnu. According to the Brahma Vaivarta Purana, all Tirthas, Devas, and Vedas reside in the Amalaki tree. Offering Amla to Vishnu on this day and sitting under the tree is said to be extremely meritorious.
