Spiritual Significance
Ganesh Chaturthi 2027 begins the 10-day festival celebrating the birth of Lord Ganesha — the remover of obstacles, the lord of wisdom, and the patron of arts and sciences. Massive clay idols are installed in homes and public pandals across India, especially in Maharashtra, where the festival was popularized by Lokmanya Tilak. The immersion on Anant Chaturdashi is a grand community spectacle.
How to Celebrate in Singapore
Observing Ganesh Chaturthi in Singapore is highly auspicious. Because local timezone sunrise and moonrise times differ, follow these practices:
- Align Fasting with Local Sunrise: Start your vrat precisely at sunrise in Singapore (approx 06:00 local time), rather than following Indian Standard Time.
- Perform Puja during local Auspicious Hours: Make sure to perform the main rituals during local SGT evening/night windows as shown above.
- Installation of Ganesha idol (Ganesh Sthapana)
- Daily puja with 21 Durva grass blades and 21 modaks
- Recitation of Ganesh Atharvashirsha
- Aarti twice daily with 'Sukhkarta Dukhharta'
- Immersion of idol on 1.5th, 3rd, 5th, 7th, or 10th day
