Guru Ravidas Jayanti celebrates the birth of Sant Ravidas (also known as Raidas), one of the greatest mystic poets and saints of the Bhakti movement in the 15th-16th century. Born in Varanasi, Guru Ravidas was a leather worker by caste who transcended social barriers through his profound spiritual poetry and teachings of equality, devotion, and the oneness of God. His compositions are included in the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy scripture of Sikhism. His message of castelessness and devotion remains deeply relevant today.
