Spiritual Significance
Hartalika Teej 2027 is the most important Teej festival, celebrated one day before Ganesh Chaturthi. The word 'Hartalika' refers to Parvati's friend who took her away to the forest to perform penance for Lord Shiva. It is one of the strictest fasts — observed nirjala (without water) by married women for their husband's long life, and by unmarried girls for an ideal husband.
How to Celebrate in United Arab Emirates
Observing Hartalika Teej in United Arab Emirates is highly auspicious. Because local timezone sunrise and moonrise times differ, follow these practices:
- Align Fasting with Local Sunrise: Start your vrat precisely at sunrise in Dubai (approx 06:00 local time), rather than following Indian Standard Time.
- Perform Puja during local Auspicious Hours: Make sure to perform the main rituals during local GST evening/night windows as shown above.
- Making sand or clay idols of Shiva and Parvati and worshipping
- Observing nirjala (waterless) fast from sunrise to next morning
- All-night vigil with Shiva-Parvati bhajans
- Listening to the Hartalika Teej Vrat Katha
- Adorning with 16 shringar and wearing green bangles
