Spiritual Significance
Rama Ekadashi falls on the 11th day of the dark fortnight (Krishna Paksha) of Kartik, just days before Diwali. Named after Goddess Rama (Lakshmi), this Ekadashi is said to destroy sins accumulated over many lifetimes. The Brahma Vaivarta Purana states that the merit of this fast equals that of performing the Ashwamedha Yajna.
How to Celebrate in United Arab Emirates
Observing Rama Ekadashi in United Arab Emirates is highly auspicious. Because local timezone sunrise and moonrise times differ, follow these practices:
- Align Fasting with Local Sunrise: Start your vrat precisely at sunrise in Dubai (approx 06:00 local time), rather than following Indian Standard Time.
- Perform Puja during local Auspicious Hours: Make sure to perform the main rituals during local GST evening/night windows as shown above.
- Ekadashi fast with sincere devotion to Lord Vishnu
- Worshipping Goddess Lakshmi alongside Vishnu
- Reciting the Rama Ekadashi Katha
- Lighting ghee diyas before Vishnu's image through the night
- Donating sesame, gold, and cloth the next morning
