Maha Shivaratri 2027 marks the convergence of Shiva and Shakti — the night of Lord Shiva's cosmic wedding with Goddess Parvati and his Tandava dance of creation and destruction. Devotees who observe this fast and stay awake through the four night quarters (praharas) chanting 'Om Namah Shivaya' are said to attain liberation from the cycle of rebirth (moksha). Each prahara is marked by successive Abhishek rituals on the Shivalinga.
