How to Perform the First Feeding
The baby is typically sat on the lap of the maternal uncle (Mama), who feeds the baby their first spoonful of sweet rice pudding (Kheer) or ghee-rice. Traditionally, this is done using a silver spoon and bowl. After feeding, a fun game of destiny is played where several objects (a book, a pen, gold/jewelry, soil, and a small weapon) are placed before the child. The item the child touches first is believed to indicate their future interest or career path.
